Yep, it's Christmas once again. Time to hang up the holly, deck the halls, fill the tree with unbreakable ornaments, and hope like crazy that the cats can't reach the tinsel garland. Also, it's time to ponder the effective half-life of a fruitcake. An old college buddy of mine once claimed that two members of his family had been shipping the same fruitcake back and forth every holiday season for more than a decade. He also suggested that the fruitcake in question was still in such good shape ("good" being a relative concept, considering the subject) that it should be buried in a time capsule to show future generations what sort of horrors awaited naughty little boys and girls at Christmastime. As you can see from this entry's title, my other friend Joe disagrees most heartily.

Fruitcake or no, a very happy holiday season to everyone!
